Pre-Care and Post-Care Instructions for
Microneedling, Microblading & Lip Blushing
Achieving flawless, long-lasting results from your beauty treatments at Bonito Beauty Bar starts with proper pre-care and post-care. Follow these essential tips to ensure your microblading, lip blushing, or microneedling experience is safe, effective, and leaves you looking your best.
Pre-Care Instructions for Microblading
Avoid Blood-Thinning Substances
Refrain from consuming alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil supplements at least 48–72 hours before your appointment. These substances can thin the blood, increasing the risk of bleeding and affecting pigment retention.
No Caffeine or Tea
Avoid caffeine or tea 24 hours before your procedure. These stimulants can heighten sensitivity and interfere with the process.
Do Not Wax or Thread
Skip waxing or threading around your eyebrows for at least 3 days before your microblading appointment. This helps prevent irritation in the treated area.
Stop Retinoids and Exfoliants
Discontinue retinoids and exfoliating products two weeks prior to your procedure to avoid skin sensitivity.
Avoid Sun Exposure
Protect your skin from excessive sun exposure for at least a week before the appointment. Sunburned skin is not suitable for microblading.
Skip Chemical Peels, Fillers, and Botox
Do not undergo chemical peels, dermal fillers, or Botox in the eyebrow area for at least 2 weeks before your session.
Consult About Medications
If you are taking prescription blood-thinning medications, consult your healthcare provider and microblading technician about possible adjustments.
Communicate Allergies and Concerns
Share any allergies, skin sensitivities, or specific concerns with your PMU (permanent makeup) artist prior to the procedure.
Pre-Care Instructions for Lip Blushing
Hydration is Key
Keep your lips hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.
Avoid Blood Thinners
Avoid blood-thinning medications, vitamins, or supplements (e.g., aspirin, fish oil) 72 hours prior. Consult your doctor if necessary.
No Coffee or Alcohol
Do not consume coffee or alcohol 24 hours before your appointment to minimize bleeding and bruising.
Protect Your Lips
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning beds for two weeks before the procedure.
Pause Resurfacing Treatments
Discontinue the use of retinol, chemical peels, lasers, or microneedling treatments on the lips for at least four weeks prior.
Avoid Lip Fillers
Refrain from getting lip fillers within six months before your lip blushing session.
Cold Sore Prevention
If you’re prone to cold sores, take prescribed antiviral medication as directed by your doctor to prevent outbreaks during healing.
Post-Care Instructions for Microneedling or Micropigmentation
Keep the Area Dry
Avoid getting the treated area wet for the first three days. Use a damp cotton pad to clean around the area if needed.
No Touching or Picking
Refrain from touching, picking, or scratching the healing area to prevent infection or pigment loss.
Apply Ointment (if Recommended)
Use the aftercare ointment provided by your technician as directed to keep the area moisturized.
Avoid Makeup
Do not apply makeup on or around the treated area for at least 10 days to prevent irritation or infection.
Avoid Sweating and Swimming
Steer clear of intense workouts, saunas, hot tubs, and swimming for 7–10 days to allow the pigment to settle.
Protect from Sun Exposure
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks. Use SPF after healing to protect your skin.
Avoid Harsh Skincare Products
Do not use retinol, acids, or exfoliating products on the treated area for at least four weeks.
Healing Process
Some scabbing, flaking, and lightening of the treated area are normal during the healing process. Allow scabs to fall off naturally—do not peel them.
Follow-Up Appointment
Book a touch-up session 4–6 weeks after your initial procedure for optimal results.
Post-Care Instructions for Lip PMU (Blush)
Keep Lips Clean and Dry
Avoid getting your lips wet for the first 24–48 hours. Use a damp cotton pad to gently clean around the area if needed.
Apply Aftercare Ointment
Use the provided aftercare ointment as directed to keep your lips moisturized and promote healing.
Avoid Touching or Picking
Do not touch, lick, pick, or peel your lips during the healing process. This helps prevent scarring and uneven pigment retention.
Avoid Makeup and Skincare Products
Refrain from applying makeup, lip balm (other than the aftercare ointment), or skincare products on your lips for at least 10 days.
Avoid Hot, Spicy, or Salty Foods
Stick to mild and cool foods to avoid irritation. Use a straw to drink beverages during the first few days.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to keep your lips hydrated from within, but avoid licking them.
Protect from Sun Exposure
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks. After healing, apply SPF to protect your lips and maintain the pigment.
Avoid Smoking and Alcohol
Do not smoke or consume alcohol during the healing process, as these can slow healing.
Healing Process
Expect some swelling, tenderness, and scabbing for the first few days. Allow scabs to fall off naturally without peeling.
Schedule a Touch-Up
Book a touch-up session 6–8 weeks after your initial treatment to refine and perfect the results.
